I was pretty pissed off about that too. I didn't buy Diamond or Pearl, because I knew that a superior third version Gen4 game would be released. I was waiting for that to happen with Gen5 as well before I bought another Pokemon game. I guess I'm gonna have to flip a coin and choose which two games I buy.

Ok confession time I love Pokey-mans.

    Favourite Pokes:

Gallade - With monstrous attack, great special defense, and an amazing movepool, he can be a wallbreaker, a tank, a sweeper (sort of), or support.

Arcanine - Another versatile 'mon that can be a physical bomber, a special sweeper, a tank, a sun setter/user, so many things and can switch in a lot with his bulk and two great abilities.

Slowbro - Reliable tank and pivot switch that can easily turn offensive.

Rapidash, Gardevoir, Sawsbuck, Lopunny - They're pretty.

I recommend people try out Pokemon Battle Simulator even if you don't know that much about Pokemons.

  6. When I was about 4, I received a gameboy color in the mail from one of my father's friends. It came with a few games, but the only one that caught my eye was Pokemon Gold. It was a golden case with Ho-oh in the cover, I took out the cartridge and it was a glittery tinge of gold as well. I inserted it, began playing, but couldn't read so I skipped all the text until I got to walk around. This became very confusing.

I returned a year or 2 later with some basic literacy skills and the game slowly began to make sense. I played casually for a week before I was obsessed. I couldn't wait to come home from primary school purely to advance the storyline and catch some cool pokemon. A few weeks later, and I had a pretty decent collection. The exploration and freedom amazed my adolescent brain. I'd walk to school imagining seeing these interesting creatures roaming the local streets.

One day, I raised my feraligatr to about level 80 when I decided I'd visit home (I enjoyed coming back to my hometown every now and then for some reason). I stayed for a minute or 2 and left once again to fulfill my journey to become a the Pokemon master. I walked into the grass, and unsurprisingly was attacked by a wold Pokemon. The silhouette appeared but I had never seen it before. It looked amazing and I waited in anticipation for it to show its colours. Then I saw the name, Suicune. I had found my first legendary Pokemon! Then, I slashed it in an attempt to not kill it and it fled.

Despite the anticlimactic conclusion to this story. This was one of the most definitive moments in gaming for me.

    tl;dr Legendaries are cool.

For those who play competitively I have a set I'd like to share:

Hitmonlee - Focus Sash - Unburden
EVs - 252 Attack 252 Speed (The last few EVs should only be put in Special Attack if you're going to use them)
IVs (if on sim) - 0 HP 0 Defense 0 Special Defense
Reversal, Meditate/Work Up, Mach Punch, Stone Edge

The idea is a fusion of Reversal Dugtrio and the usual Unburden Hitmonlee. Switch in on something that can hit you hard, maybe something that's paralyzed. Spam Meditate until they attack you, which should activate your sash and leave you at 1 HP. Unburden will now double your speed and you'll be able to out speed most scarfers. Since you're at 1 HP Reversal will have 200 BP, 50 more than the devastating Hi Jump Kick but with full accuracy and none of that taking half your health on a miss bullshit. Even better if you can snag a couple Meditates (shame he doesn't learn Swords Dance). Mach Punch is to beat other prority and Stone Edge gives good coverage. Frustration could be swapped out to help you against Gligar and Slowbro.

Naturally he loses to entry hazards and pranksters, so make sure to deal with that first. And make sure you setup on something that won't status you and can actually hit you hard. Lee is frustratingly bulky even with this stat spread and often times I've found myself only taking like 60% from something.

I might have some old 'poke' files, for those who know what to do with it. They were handselectively made for a mix of lulz and competition, stuff like a competitive bidoof.

    Emerald was my favorite game.

    Favorite Pokemon: Alakazam and Umbreon.

I still have my Umbreon from Pokemon Colosseum and it's a pain in the ass to fight against. It'd be banned from tournaments though because it's moveset is Confuse Ray, Toxic, Faint Attack and Double Team. With Leftovers, it's a real pain in the ass, and the Double Team makes it OP playing in general.

Competitive Bidoof reminds me of the competitive Magikarp and Dunsparce I used to have. So much fun.

I have to agree that Emerald was by far my favorite pokemon game :D. My ZigZagoon is better then your ZigZagoon.

This is bring back a lot of memories I'm not sure I want to revisit. I've given SO much of my money to Nintendo, but pokemon was probably the dirtiest trick they've played on me. After Yellow (I started with the anime and I'm NOT ashamed to admit it :D) on my GB color, I've gotten at least one game for every generation. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to be as gung-ho while playing them as I used to be. I shamelessly walked into a GameStop and bought Pokemon White a couple months ago, but I still only have 2 or 3 badges. I beat Emerald within 2 weeks of getting it, it was one of the longer ones. And lastly, all you who say XD sucks, FUCK YOU. I liked it.

I used atleast 18 different pokemon (3 parties) in HG. there were some pokemon I wanted to obtain early like Shuckle and Milktank and others I just plain liked so I traded over eggs from Diamond.
