Risk of Rain (2D platformer roguelike-like)

This game is so fucking great. Many thx to @Bookmark for purchasing the game for me for Christmas!

I'm playing on Steam a lot of times, if anyone is down to play co-op at like 9pm EST and after, let me know! My name is the same on Steam as it is here.

There are tons of great games that were made with Game Maker. Hotline Miami is one that comes to mind.

Also HeroCore, an excellent game from Daniel Remar (Ultimortal). Check it out sometime.

Oh shit really? I thought the dev team had bailed, they didn't post any updates for months. Here's to praying for shittons of bugfixes.

 

This is a fun game but gets really hard later on, it also gets boring after playing for hours when your player becomes abusive and won't die

 

I've pretty much outplayed the game at this point, but for it's price it is 300% worth it and is an amazing fun game that does have infinite replay value so long as you like torturing yourself with new challenges.

 

This game really sounds interesting, I'll give a look to it later.

Btw about Game Maker :
- It is not bad as everyone says. It's really easy to use and permits fast coding.
- It is slow, indeed. But if you're not a dumbass at coding this shouldn't be a large problem.
- It is buggy, indeed again. But again, there often are workarounds.

 

The game should run fine on most modern computers, if not some older ones. The only issue is if you're playing too long and items and monsters begin to stack. I know I can host a 5 or 6 person server off of 10 MB/s upload on my laptop, and it's generally not too laggy.

 

The only thing that sucks about RoR is that game speed is tied to your fps (if your game ain't running at 60fps, everything slows down, which causes desyncing in multiplayer). And fps tanks fast on slower computers.

yeah, the current update is filled with bugs and glitches. the transfer to gamemaker studio pretty much destroyed the game

 

I've been playing this over the last few days, the only bug I've found is that some surfaces won't allow me to jump. Other than that, fine.
If anyone wants to play, I'd be happy to have a bash.

 

@cameron1010 and I were playing today, and as we were about to proceed to the final level it crashed with a fatal error. I can't remember the exact text, unfortunately.
