Leaning over the corpse of Gareth, I closed his dead eyes. I then removed his armour, and his sword. Picking up his shield, I walked over to Shax.
"I'm surprised they didn't take your guts instead. Here, put this on, it'll save you from the worst of the blows. I'll help you with your swordmanship, it'll be no good if next time I come out of it without a head! Do we have any wine with us?"
Shax looked startled by how lightly I took the death of Gareth. "But... you just stripped him of everything. He's dead! That's dishonouring his corpse! Surely we must bury him?"
"Oh, that's a point." I walked over to the corpse, and looked at Cavall. He nodded. Taking my sword, I cut through Gareth's neck with a sharp chop.
"At least he'll sleep in peace. Let's get moving, we don't want to be here come sundown."

(man, me and hella should apply for the oscars ^^)
After a good hour more of walking since the...incident, we came across a small cave, barely big enough for the three of us to sleep in, but Baldruf didn't seem to mind. Ah, Baldruf, while Cavall was, and still is, traumatized over Gareth's death, Baldruf seems devoid of his senses. He just gave me Gareth's old armour and sword, and off he went, without even shedding a tear. God, if this is what is required of a soldier, this complete disregard for human life, then I would rather be one of those lumbering undead than be without emotions.

As we settled down for the incoming night, I heard a strange howl in the distance.
"Eh, shouldn't we, you know, block up the entrance so nothing can attack us in our sleep?"
"Nay" Cavall replied, looking up from the shortsword he was cleansing of goblin blood "We must have stumbled into goblin territory, or something of the sort. Nothing will dare test their borders, indeed, I'm surprised we got out of that ambush alive. Well, most of us..." And I could swear I heard a little sob from him as he went back to his work.
"Baldruf, what if we're attacked by the goblins again? We shouldn't risk being killed in our sleep!"
"I agree with Cavall, besides, what could we block the entrance with? Do you have a giant boulder in that satchel of yours?" And Baldruf carried on staring into the starry sky. This was going to be a long night.

I, Baldulf, knew that there must surely be no way we could find a cure. If we lose men to bloody goblins, of all things, then how the hell are we going to be of any help against goddamn undead! What if they have undead goblins? We'd be as good as dead!

At least Gareth is out of this. He's got peace now, after all he's had to do. My god, he had to kill his entire family! No man should have to do that, I wouldn't wish it upon an enemy. I'll miss him, he was a good man. Dammit! Why should I have to be doing this? I could be drinking fine wine if I hadn't been in the city that night. I could be retired!

Well, it's best time to sleep. I just hope that no evil enemy type character interacts with this lonely band of warriors.

Glaring through my Monocle of Wisdom, I spot a lonely band of warriors in the distance, at the edge of the order separating my domain from the rest of the wretched land. No mere mortal shall ever step into the lands of mine. Nevertheless, it will be an easy fight. A small band of assassins will disperse the problem with ease. If that fails, I will deal with the threat... another way.

(In another way I mean capture you and send you to my dungeons. hint hint)

My eyes spring awake as I hear a crunch of leaves outside our pathetic shelter. I turn towards the moonlight, but don't see anything, nor hear the howling of the undead or the cackles of goblins. There it was again! Another crunch, closer this time. I move to wake Baldruf, who was sleeping right next to me, not that there was much choice in the matter, the cave was smaller than old ramshackle hut back when I lived in the village. He also opens his eyes, stares dumbfounded for a second, before his face creased angrily. He looked ready to shout when we both heard a new sound, the sound of a sword being unsheathed!

I shouted anyway, knowing that an element of surprise would startle whatever foes had entered the cave. At the edge of the light, there stood a lithe figure wearing simple banded armour, his face looked drawn and tired, and his eyes hollow, but his movements seemed to point towards skill with his blade.
Seeing him moving towards the kneeling Shax, I leapt at him, attempting to smash his blade from his hand.

    Name: Barnan "Smity" Arbell
    Race: Human
    Calling: Retired Veteran Soldier
    Age: 67
    Height: 168cm
    Weight: 75 Kilograms
Father’s name: Never knew who he was. (Grew up as an orphan)
Loyalty: Neutral/Humans, not loyal to anyone but not enemies with them either.
Equipment: A broadsword, round shield, a mask, and a Crossbow.

Childhood: Barnan had no friends, he grew up in an orphanage and was almost always picked on for his hair. It had always been white for some reason. His time spent in the orphanage was spent mostly reading stories about great battles and learning to read and write. In secret he used to spend his spare time practicing sword fighting with a stick.

Since then: When he was 14 he was recruited into the army. He didn't have any say about it. In the army he only had one friend, the rest of the recruits were all too judgmental about his hair. After he left boot camp he went to the real army. His first battle was terrifying for him but after the next and the next he got more use to it, but no-one could get used to all dieing. He was one of the best and advanced through the ranks quickly and found himself leaving his friend behind. When he was 30 he almost lost his right arm and had to use his left arm for most of the hard work, after a while he was good with his left hand, he could fight with it, write with it and work with it. Even after his right arm got better he still used his left for most stuff because he was more used to it. At 43 he found out that his old friend had died and it shook him up pretty bad. He had completely forgotten about him. He than realized that in his line of work he wouldn't die of old age so he set out looking for a place to settle in.

Zombie apocalypse: One day while walking towards a town Barnan noticed that everything seemed quite, too quite. As he got closer he spotted people, at least that's what he thought. He walked up to one to ask a question and it just started attacking him. He killed it with ease but it had alerted the rest. He ran into a house away from the monsters that were chasing him and stood in the hallway so he could take them down one by one. After there were none left he was tired. To tired to walk far, he boarded up in the top story for the night.

Since then: Surviving by will and tactics Barnan, and his faithful horse Nero, have been wondering the land in search of a safe place, yet to find one but sure he is close because of the more frequency of survivors. Being in group attracts more so he has a tendency to do everything himself.

Now: I stop an abandoned town in the distance. I hop off of Nero and prepare myself, I put my mask on, once blue and red to represent the past feud but now stained with the color of blood. I put my black cloak on which is also red in places. I get my crossbow and place a bolt ready to shoot. I put my crossbow in my left hand and draw my broadsword in my right. I slowly lead Nero along the road. I reach the town with no resistance. Looking down the streets it looks safe. I was just about to walk into what looked like a Tavern or Inn when I spotted some footprints leading out of town, I can tell that they're not from a Zombie because Zombies don't walk in a strait line or with their feet so flat. It looks fresh because it stands out in front of the other foot prints which obviously belong to a Zombie. I follow them with Nero close by, tracking them all the way to a cave, I look to see if there are exit foot prints but I only spot one set so I just camp out in a tree and watch the entrance waiting for the person to come out.

(Hi, hopefully this will be fun, BTW this is the cave with Sonic in, he can't remain a loner the whole RPG can he? I just hope he will be more active, 24 posts isn't much of a reputation.)

(Bump!!! Everyone was talking about hating if this RPG died, IT'S A TEAM EFFORT FOR IT TO DIE!!! It won't die if we all post. It's also a team effort to keep it alive. It's imposable for one person to keep it alive though, help me out here.)

I wake up feeling more alive and fresh than ever, I quickly smell food..Boy, I've only got to feed on edible food found in villages. I carefully move the boulder abit to peek out, I quickly spot a man and his horse. I move the boulder aside shouting in excitement. I quickly ask for his name, he said his name is Barnan Arbell, I tell him mine as well. He tells me that he saw my footprints and had tracked me down to my 'hiding' spot. I ask him if he had seen the Celestial Light. He said no. I invite him inside and discuss further to search for more human survivors and his past. Suddenly, we hear the terrifying sounds... We hear moaning and groaning from that Undead Scourge, they had knew we were here! :castle: :skeleton::skeleton::skeleton::zchicken::zchicken:

(The rules of this RPG are VERY slack, in most RPGs the GM (Game Master) is the one who controls NPCs such as Zombies etc. Also another rules is that you can't control other characters. For example, Sonic made me say who I am and how I found him, what if that wasn't my intention? See where I'm going? Just for future references, be careful what you say)

(Yeah I know, but usually the players can handle it reasonably themselves, I would take a bigger control over it if I had to :p
And I'm not sure if I said this already, but potatomcwhiskey is no longer in the story, as he hasn't replied since his character intro.)

(Sorry i didn't post sooner, just got some exam results back, all A* :D So I went out for pizza to celebrate, and got back fairly late)
Baldruf, charged at the intruder, who was standing there looking shell-shocked about being discovered. A second later, and his expression turned from one of shock, to a cruel snarl, right before his sword was knocked out of his hand. Our assailant stumbled back out of reach, before drawing another sword, longer, and barbed with spiky metal shards ridged along one edge. By this time Cavall had woken up, sword ready, and was about to leap into the fray when a second man, far larger than his collaberator, appeared in the cave entrance, blocking the moonlight coming in. For a second, all was still, no sound could be heard save the chirps of the insects outside. Then, like a cloud breaking, everyone shouted and charged as one. The smaller one went down after a few seconds, howling in agony as he fell back, clutching his ruined face that Baldruf had smashed. He quickly turned his attention to the other giant of a man, shouting in vicious truimph as he charged. But then it all went wrong. The giant swung his massive mace, catching Cavall full on in the stomach, sending him flying! He then turned swiftly around and smashed Baldruf back into the cave wall. A sickening crack was heard, and the giant grinned like a demented fool, and stalked towards Baldruf's slumped, broken, but very much alive, body, forgetting me in his bloodlust. I took my dagger, Gareth's old sword forgetten, hands shaking as I did so, and crept up behind the man, just as he was lifting his mace to strike. And I stabbed him right between the ribs, him roaring in pain as I did so. He attempted to grab me, and, terrified as i was, I struck him again and again, until his roar ceased to a whimper. I stared at the dagger, my first, and hopefully my last, action of killing a man. I looked up in truimph, just in time to see his corpse fall backwards on me. Hard. His carcass knocked me over, smacking me head into the floor in the process. I blacked out.
