    Python is a powerful language, but if you want more speed or to hide your code, you should go with a compiled language.

    actually im using pygame, which is a python module for making 2d games.
    actually, i THINK you can compile python files, but im not sure how. if anyone can use python or is good at graphics and/or sounds, PM me if you would like to be on the dev team

    AAAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGHHHHH!!! now i have a problem with the main game loop (the piece of code that actually runs the game) and i have to filter through the first 500 or so lines of code to rectify it... i may even have to rewrite it :>:(: im wishing i had some helpers

    it probably will when it gets to v1.0... but right now, most of the art and sprites are temporary things, so dont expect too much out of the first version... sorry i have no pics... the main game isnt even playable yet... i've done the evolution screen but something strange is wrong with the main part :( i'll figure it out...
    such is the life of a game dev i suppose :D

    OK GUYS HERE ARE THE PICS SOME HAVE REQUESTED!!!

    Here we have the upgrades screen. This is where you 'evolve' your species.

    In the top right corner, you can see your available EVO points, points that are used to evolve your species (which is blue coloured). On the left, the upgrades bar shows a maximum of 6 available upgrades. On the right is the current appearance of your blob species. Note that I only gave myself 3000 EVO points because I wanted to show you guys some upgrades.

    OK, so next I click on the first upgrade: 'Carnivore I'.

    Now, our species moves further along the tech tree, and the 'Carnivore I' button turns into the 'Carnivore II' button. The 'Carnivore I' upgrade increases the amount of energy your species gains from eating meat. Do you notice how the EVO points turn from 3000 to 2960? The amount you have before the upgrade is subtracted by the cost of the upgrade. In this case, the cost is 40 points. Naturally, some upgrades cost more and some cost less.

    Now, I click 'Carnivore II'.

    Now, in addition to gaining even more energy when eating meat, your blobs get a mouth to eat with! Again, the cost of the upgrade is taken away from your total pool of EVO points. Getting the 'Carnivore II' upgrade also means that your species now cannot eat plants, so it is a fully-fledged carnivore. Getting 'Herbivore II' means that your species cannot eat meat, so it works the other way too. That way, you have to choose to be a specialised eater or an omnivore.

    Now it has acquired the 'Spikes I' upgrade! This clearly shows up on the right. This species is now well on its way along the tech tree (which actually took an agonisingly long time to implement the feature in :>:(:). These are only the beginnings of the work in progress. Stay tuned for more news!

    Only 1 word that I can think of to describe this.
    Amazing.
    Graphics are also pretty cool, but could be a bit better, I think the blob looks a bit weird, I imagined it to be a bit more transparent. And when it moves does its body slosh around?

    Thanks! I can make it transparent later, but at the moment I have to worry about the code. There's still a problem with collision detection and the inbuilt AI. :/ About the graphics, actually I thought they were pretty bad, but I think because I textured it, the graphics look better. I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures! :):thumbs_up: Also, I can improve animations later in the devolopment stage but not now I'm planning for a bunch of bubbles to rise up from the bottom of the screen at the title screen too!).

    What about asking someone out of the modder community like a spriter to make your sprites more pixel-ly, more detailed, and have more color. :) (Of coruce this isn't the most important thing to worry about, but still, give the game some awesome art style)
