[edit - Trelawney ] Split from 'The meaning of your name?' as it was derailed and probably deserves its own topic..
That goddamn blue colour uniform will eternally piss me off.

Why are school uniforms always blue?

    Its supposedly a calming colour.

Like you I do, Brony fist.

Tis uncanny, my Primary school uniform was actually yellow and blue also. My High school uniform was yellow for the lower school and blue/white for the upper school. The moral of this story! Blue is almost always involved in school uniforms!

Like me and I'll be silently disgusted with you.

Noobs, at my school we can have a variety of different colors. Most people wear either white or blue, but we can wear green. Let's just say no one wears green.

Noobs, at my school we could wear whatever you want. Well, as long as you were wearing something.....

...non-uniformed schools are fairly common in many countries.

That said, studies show that its far better to have uniforms.

EDIT: Oh man, I totally thought this was that name thread and worried this was getting derailed by uniform talk. Derpderpderp.

No way, uniforms drive me crazy.

We dont even have uniformed schools in the Netherlands. Maybe a few private schools that cost way too much.
But seriously, universities are not uniformed right?

Yeah it doesn't apply to universities really.
Its about kids and the fact that allowing them to wear whatever they like gives them yet another social pressure they have to put up with whilst at school - yet another thing to be bullied over. If everyone is wearing the same thing then they don't have to worry that they're too poor to afford 'cool' clothes/shoes/etc. or similar arguments like that.

Like there are no ways to have a cool school uniform, I think the cool school uniform is way more of a problem in countries where they have uniforms. I never had any problem with the clothes I was wearing. I was wearing both cheap and expensive clothes and no one seemed to care about it.

I think it's way more of a problem when you give everyone the same clothes, making separate groups of people wearing their belt on another way or some opened slip knot w/e. People with uniforms just seem to pay too much attention to others look.

In my school, there was very little comparison made between people whilst in uniforms, but on the odd day in which they allowed people to wear their own clothes there was a lot of nastiness about them.

Iunno. Maybe that's a symptom of attending a uniform-wearing school? I've no idea.
I just know I wasn't ever harassed about my uniform.

Another pro-uniform argument is to prevent random people walking into a school and pretending to be a student, in order to achieve whatever moronic goal they have in mind.

At my Primary School, it was a deligtful red t-shirt or jumper, and black trousers.
At Secondary School, we had black everything, except for a white shirt, a red stripy tie and, in the lower school, a red braid around the collar of the blazer.
Now I'm in Sixth Form.... I wear exactly the same as in secondary school, as the Sixth Form is attached to the school. Only now we can wear a shirt in any colour we like! As long as it is plain. Oh, and we get a funky tie, with slightly thicker red stripes! Yay!

But then, all this is made up for by the fact that we can choose to wear goddamn waistcoats. Who doesn't like wearing waistcoats?

    Don't answer that. -.-
