    My record is only around 980, I played as a builder for the first half of a game before switching to knight and spamming bombs at the enemy towers.

    Don't think it's good. To get coins all you have to do is pick them up and be careful enough. Will you kick a player that doesn't do anything except picking up coins? What if 1/3 of the team plays like that? Also some guys can make a special server to make this process a lot less tedious.

    Re: the last part- coins will only accumulate in servers running unmodified game-modes (ie in ranked servers).
    The losing team might also only get to bank half their coins to prevent people running around whoring coins and not helping.

    Worst comes to worst, we simply remove the feature if it's impacting gameplay and make a devlog post saying "this is why you can't have nice things".

    This is something I find quite weird, an archer shooting a knight, archer or builder gets 5 coins per hit, but if he shoots a catapult he gets 15 coins per hit... thats kinda strange don't you think?

    Well, since it's something that is pretty much left to archers, catapult destruction, that is, then I think the reward is about right for such an important task.
