  1. As in.... [xxx] clan? Stay da hell away from them. Anyway, most of my names either include something funny or just random riff-raff that isn't too hard to say. Runescape (Bless it 3 years ago) was always Amish Chunk for me, so 'eh. I'm just waiting for a troll with dubstep in his name to appear randomly on this page.

I can't help but feel that a name such as 'xxxnoscopeninjakiller' is sort of poetic. It explains an interest that the player has, and a skill. Simply put, he is able to use a sniper rifle to eliminate numerous or singular ninjas, without having to resort to the use of the cumbersome scope. The 'x's clearly relate to the number of bitches that he/she has hanging around their pad, and so they use it to boast, in much the same way that in real life the number of qualifications before your name make you a supposedly superior individual.
Personally, I feel that's pretty damn deep for a gamer.

Or, the three X's represent that he enjoys watching porn, while using no scope to kill ninja's.
or it could mean that killing nija's without a scope IS porn to him. this all depends about your thinking.
Perhaps noscopeninjakiller was takin already, so the player decided to add some extra letters to his name.

The name "Hella" could mean numorous things also. such as you are a player from "Hell" who feels adding an A to the end of your name gives you a more smoother pronunciation. it could also be a prefix for all of the things you are, such as "Hella Philosophic" or "Hella Good at writing text walls" and so on.

Actually, Hella was a name I thought up a fair few years ago now, but when I decided upon it I've stuck with it since, with only a few variations, one which I implemented fairly recently. It was an incredibly meaningful change.
If I'm honest, it doesn't really mean that much. I vaguely remember it linking in some impossible way to the name of a god in a book by David Eddings, but it's probably been warped beyond recognition.

Also, I take deep offence to being called 'Phislosiphic'. Do you even know what it means?! How dare you.

I think it's stupid to just make up a random name with out thought, and I think it's even stupider to spend more than 3 minutes thinking of a good one. If anyone here has ever played a game where you had to type a persons entire name for whatever reason (Like teleporting in Minecraft Vanilla) you know it's a pain to type out xxxSlayerJetDragon15747372734xxx's entire name.

I won't lie, I automatically dislike anyone with a name meant to make them look pro or cool. My younger brother (A huge COD fan and 11 years old) had his gamer tag changed to xXPRGxOwnageXx, or something similar. Not saying that every 11 year old has a gamer tag like that, but every gamer tag like that was probably made by a pre-teen.

In all honesty, I first heard about Beelzebub in the "Retarded Animal Babies" flash cartoon, so there.

Hey, bitches. There's a thread for this in miscellaneous.
(You think this shark repeats what he says? Just look at him. If you want to know the origin of my handle, go sift through this thread because I totally posted the reason many moons ago)

To stay on topic... the call of duty names don't bug me much. I PLAYED modern warfare 2 for... jesus... I don't even know. A good chunk of my life was spent playing that game with some buddies over live. I don't have a silly gamer-name, though.

What are you expecting as a gamer handle, OP? They usually look like that anyway: framed with x's and whatnot. They're everywhere. It's weird to think that they would bother you.

I think it depends on the game. In something like DayZ (which I've never played) or Project Zomboid (when multiplayer for that game is released), I'd prefer that everyone use regular-sounding names. Not the most immersive experience when you're trying to survive alongside "THUNDERTHIGHS2000" or "VoteOBAMA2K12".

Same thing in Chivalry: Medieval Warfare. I guess it really depends on how immersed in the game world I want to be. So in an arcade-y competitive multiplayer game like CoD 4, I don't really give 2 shits.

Slightly off-topic boring history about my current and past names:
"Viken" is an anagram of my real first name [prize to whoever guesses it]. After I started using it, I discovered that it's also a Norwegian province (thanks, Crusader Kings 2). Then someone on a KAG server told me that it's a German slang verb...I would be banned if I were to translate it here.
German people also regularly ask me if I'm from Germany too due to the unusual spelling.

-For a while my internet alias was borrowed from my dad: "kinggg2". In fairness, it is a pretty distinctive name, and if I'd continued to use it, I'd probably have dominated "kinggg2" search results by now.

-My X-box Live username was "yodathewiser" (because "yodathewise" was taken when I tried to use that). It usually got a good laugh...and it was certainly unique.

-Then Gumball135 dominated the scene for a year or two, for no discernible reason. The thing I like about usernames with numbers after them is that they are unused on most sites, so you usually become well recognized by that tag. I'm sure there are hundreds of Gumball's on the internet, but only a few Gumball135's.

Search any of them up and you'll find my Youtube channel...my gamer-tag...and traces of my dad's chess/poker addiction :)

It is vital to my immersion that someone has a period fitting name in this game.

Off-Topic: Love the avatar. Loved the series. (I only found Knive as an anagram of Viken. O_O)
OT: Interesting, since usually I stick with one username throughout all my games/accounts. I'm curious to know how many alter or completely change their online names periodically.

I have no fucking idea how it came up with my name. My story is this :
    I made a webkinz account.

No really, i used this name for a webkinz and liked it cause it was unique. (And the fact the the name is never taken on games.) :)

I never put numbers in my names. Ever.

What really sucks is that people expect you to be a total badass if your name is Nighthawk. And I commonly disappoint them by getting my butt kicked. Badly.

I have an old respect for the xxx clan. Being muted and vote kicked repeatedly must take a lot out of ya. Their courage to succeed in annoying other's usually comes away meaningless, so I always make an effort to "Haha" at whatever they say. And, boy, when I first see the name bluntsmok4h or SmokeWeedLegalise, I can instantly tell what was coming. And I look forward to it.

That may seem a little odd, but numbers are what really get to me. When someone decides it'd be cool to add a couple o' numbers to their name so that they could just keep their lower-cased title that must have already been used, a little part of me dies. Thank God for donation.
