And as I predicted when you first mentioned this idea teams are opting for the far-right and far-left of the map because it is the easiest place to build and defend your quarters, it offers a great advantage: http://i.imgur.com/cemr1LZ.png
Teams that built near the center of the map already had a really difficult time, and this structure based upkeep system has really screwed them over. It has also greatly empowered bombers, these quarters are much, much more easiest to destroy than the halls/original base structure. On the current map neither team wants to fight and both bases are neutral proof.
This can probably be fixed by just tweaking numbers around. Making quarters give more/less upkeep, making quarters cost less/more, making the initial upkeep amount be less/more. You could even make quarters in the middle of the map give more upkeep.
Ah yes, I remember that match. Didn't we destroy all of Red after they were jerks for a long time? I wanted to join them, but a badger swarm stopped me. I ALSO gave them resources. OH, did I mention going bandit to kill off the bandit army which had access to guns? Still didn't join.
